Let’s talk about ear protection. There are so many different choices when it comes to ear protection. But, which one is right for you? Keep in mind that you may want to have different types of ear protection on hand, depending on the setting and what you’re shooting. I’ve met so many rifle shooters that can’t stand earmuffs. However, there is an argument to be made that earmuffs must provide the best protection.

I’ve spent most of my life shooting with those little tiny orange plugs you just stuff down into your ear canal. I haven’t noticed any big loss of hearing over the years. However, recently, I’ve turn to slim, active air protection. I feel the benefits of being able to hear others is worth the discomfort of having the muffs move when addressing the rifle (buttstock).
